Countdown to Convention

Tuesday, November 15, 2016

Even with a migraine, I managed to start a dozen cards. First I embossed, then added glitter glue touches and put them to the side to dry. Tomorrow I'm going to finish them up and I hope they will be dazzling.
Just watched Terra dance and she brings me to tears. She is not just lovely outside, but she is truly lovely inside as well. Even Carrie Ann is crying. I love DWTS. I think all 5 of them deserve to win the mirror ball. (OK, that's a small white lie - you know what I really mean)  I'll have to take a break soon to do my voting. It's getting so hard to choose...
I have a crop coming up on Thursday - can't wait. I hope everyone can show up. I wish our group would grow...

Oh NO - Terra is gone (DWTS again). That makes me so sad. I loved her. I may have to start watching her show.  I had to go to bed, I was so upset. I tried to vote for her by phone and their system wouldn't let me. I was watching the taped show because I was at a meeting, so I was delayed and that's why I couldn't vote for her.  Sorry, this isn't supposed to be a sad post - it's supposed to be happy and uplifting.

Sometimes, things just come together...after a couple years. I put the background paper on the fuchsia colored card a long time ago but didn't do anything else until a couple days ago. So, from now on, if one of my cards or scrapbook pages doesn't seem to be coming together, instead of ruining it, I'm going to put it aside and pick it up a year later. I bet it will work! The paper is so lovely and I love lime green. I'm glad I waited.

Thanksgiving is coming soon. Let me know what you are thankful for.  I'm thankful for so many things. I am very blessed.

I'm thankful for all of you!

Hi, how are you all doing today? I have had a busy day which included a trip to Michael's for some much needed supplies (if you believe the last part I have some ocean front property in Tucson that I'd like to sell you...).
Tom grilled steaks for dinner. The steak coupled with baked potato and a little bread made for a wonderful dinner. I love a perfectly grilled filet!  Now, I'm full and need to walk it off.
I'm posting a few photos of some cards I've made recently.  I hope you like them...let me know, if you have the time. Thanks.

Today is our Card Workshop day! Yeah. I really like to see all the different ideas everyone comes up with. I also get to make my cards right along with everyone else. That's because I haven't had time - in over a month - to get them done.
Did you all get the October newsletter? I will be working on November and hopefully will have it out by the 15th - not the last day of the month. If you have accepted the card challenge, let me know. I would love to see what you've come up with.
I forgot to tell you all about our game day - last Saturday. I even missed the Woodbury crop to go to see Notre Dame play Navy in Jacksonville. The game was non-stop action and so much fun. I was so conflicted - I didn't know who to root for. I'm a big ND fan, but as a Veteran, I always like to see Navy, Army and Air Force win too.  So, I wore my favorite red, white and blue outfit and rooted for BOTH teams. That means I was clapping and cheering throughout the whole game. Our seats were surrounded by Navy active duty and Veterans - another reason I felt compelled to cheer for Navy! I had to thank them all for their service. The beer was flowing and I had a great time! Navy won by one point.
Enjoy your day and I'll see some of you soon.

YEAH - the election is over. That is al I'm going to say/write on the subject. I want to keep my crafter friends happy!
What are you doing today? I must finish up my HOA minutes before I start crafting today and it's already almost 1 pm. Oh, where has my day gone?? But, I promised our HOA President that I'd have them out today. So, as soon as I finish here, I will finish those up and send them out.
Before I forget, I have to show you my Halloween face:
How do you like me now?

I have to type up my minutes now.  I'll be back later...

Hi Fellow Crafters,
Halloween is over and it was fun, as usual. A few of our neighbors all gather in our driveway and we socialize and hand out candy. Poor kids never know what's going on. We have to keep telling them that there is more, more, more and make sure you get all you can. Before it all started one of the neighbors came over while we were setting up and told us they were eating dinner and would come over when they finished...I guess she hadn't looked at me right away and all of a sudden she screams, covers her mouth and backs away! LOL - I was in costume (or at least I was from my head <purple hair> to my neck).

Today is election day - finally. Soon the political commercials will be over and we can get back to normal - whatever that is!! I know what it is - it's CRAFTING!

I have been busy creating cards for the festival/fund raiser I am participating in on Nov 19th.  I have a few other crafts, but mainly cards for every occasion. It's funny, I make 5 or 6 really nice cards that I'm sure will sell and then, even when I follow the same pattern(s), I make a horrible one. I guess my brain stops functioning and that's when I know  need a break. But, I certainly have surprised myself and made some really nice cards. I'm going to concentrate on Christmas cards over the next few days. I absolutely LOVE the Oh Deer papers and embellishments. I cannot wait to open it and start making cards and pages. I just may have to buy another paper pack and embellishments.

Oh, and I can't wait to get our NEW Happy, Happy Christmas bundle. It is filled with beautiful papers and embellishments and directions to make several projects. It is available only in November and only while supplies last! So, get it early! We have made this workshop to help you create not only a beautiful Christmas album in preparation for the holiday season, but also to give you the materials to create four additional projects that would make beautiful holiday gifts! It’s like getting five amazing projects all in one workshop! We’ve mixed collections, designs, and used products in unconventional ways to not only create unique projects but also to show the versatility of our different product lines. These projects truly show how well our collections can blend together to create one-of-a-kind artwork. We use My Crush® Happy, Happy Christmas pages, Picture My Life™ Happy, Happy Christmas cards, City Sidewalks Complements, Oh Deer! coordinating cardstock, and White Daisy cardstock in these incredible projects!
November 2016 Campaign: Happy, Happy Christmas     Check it out on my webpage to see it more clearly and see what it has to offer. I just know you will LOVE IT!

Don't forget the Stamp Of The Month (SOTM) for November also. It is delightful - make this darling favor/gift tag:

I just got this stamp set and I'm going to make this card first!  Isn't it just lovely???  It will be gorgeous using our Sea Glass paper and glitter paper. Ooh, I'm excited to get started.

Talk to you again soon.......
Happy Crafting!

Friday, October 28, 2016

We had another fun and productive crop day today! Not a big group, but we had a great time anyway. So much creativity was flying out of our minds & hands and onto the paper - scrapbook pages and cards! Goodness. To top it all off, my Grandson "T" stopped by with his Dad (my youngest son) and so a couple of the girls got to meet that darling Grandson of mine. He was dressed in his Halloween costume and they were going to the Fall Festival at their church across the street from our place. He was so adorable - well, what else did you expect me to say???  He will be 6 years old in a week. Time sure has flown by. And, he is as smart as a whip! I'm NOT kidding, he is brilliant.  Good looks and brains - girls watch out!!

Back to the crop...
Peggy made some adorable pages of her Grandkids. Yes, they are cute too. Her pages are really great, I really like her style.
Michele got caught up on some of her Christmas cards. She subbed at school today though and she was pretty tired. I felt so sorry for her. I just wanted her to curl up on the couch and take a nap - not crop! What a trooper!
And, my goodness, Debbie sure can get so much done - I'm always so impressed. Her 3 Grandsons are the apples of her eye! All darling and she takes some of the coolest photos - then makes impressive pages. It helps that her Grandsons are into some very cool things and activities!
Oh, and I did get a few cards made and put the finishing touches on quite a few other. I didn't get as much done as I'd hoped, but maybe it's because I talk too much and socialize. Plus, for some reason today, I was hungry and wanted to snack more than crop!

I'm doing my first (sales) Fall Festival in November. I'm excited and nervous and still have tons of work to do to get ready. I just hope that people like the cards, ornaments, gift tags, etc. that I'm making. Even if I don't sell anything, if people stop and admire, I will be content!

Well, it is late and I have 2 young ones coming over tomorrow for the weekend. They will love seeing the "crafting mess" I have all over the table. The little guy, "S" likes to craft with G'Ma. My oldest Grandson, "E" sometimes does crafts with me, but he is 10 1/2 now, so he's just not into it...

I'd better hit the hay or I'll be sleeping when they get here!!

Have a wonderful crafty Halloween weekend (pun intended)!

Hi Friends, my share today is created with the Close To My Heart (CTMH) Hello Thinlit (Z3259)
and the October Featured Paper Pack.

I had a bunch of the new CTMH Thinlits sitting out by the Big Shot and decided it would be fun to create a card with just them – no stamping!. Simple and sweet. I did pop up the word on foam.
The background is done with a Swan Lake PML card, over a blue patterned paper from the pack.  I used the Magnetic Base Plate with my Big Shot which made this card super easy and quick.  The Magnetic Base Plate is a “must have” if you die cut with a Cuttlebug, Big Shot or other crank machine. It will save you so much time and give you perfect cuts.

It has been a busy weekend, from a Pampered Chef party Friday night, to cropping all day yesterday and super cleaning my bathroom counter and cabinets this afternoon. I purged lots of things...yeah! That's what I still have to do in my craft room or studio, as I'm now calling it. I got that from my Team Leader - love Tina!!
Anyway, it was a nice weekend because I got to spend it with really good friends.
I made a few cards on Saturday - National Card Making Day! After getting a magnetic plate for my Big Kick Vintage - I've been trying my dies and I'm having fun. I always avoided trying to use my Big Kick for dies. But, with the magnetic plate, it makes cutting most dies easy peasy! Now I can use all of my CTMH dies and get more!! Always a YEAH! These are the cards that I have posted below...
I used mostly CTMH products, with a few misc others added here and there. I used glitter papers, dies, stamps, gold ink, etc.

I learned a new technique from Barbara and I can't wait to experiment with it more. It uses word dies and the cards are beautiful. I will post 3 cards using the technique. I hope you like them.
Thanks for visiting, I hope you come back soon, especially tomorrow when I post the other cards.

Hello Friends,
Well, I am still overheated, BUT the A/C guy comes today - in fact, any minute. I certainly hope we get everything fixed before our next crop on Friday! The temp outside right now is 93 degrees & inside it's a hot 78 degrees.
Late last night I went back to working upstairs - on the craft room. Peggy brought over 4 medium tilt bins that I need to incorporate my room. They are going to make a significant impact on my room...so, thanks you so much, Peggy!  I have many plans for the craft room, but need Tom's help in getting furniture moved around.
So, one of the problems I encounter trying to organize is ribbon storage! One of the problems is that the rolls are all different sizes. At a Scrapbook EXPO, one year, I bought these clip things to try to organize them. I got quite a bit done, then gave it up (story of my life - LOL). Here are 2 photos of some of it that I did get done.

As you can see, I hope, I took the ribbons off the spools and put them on these clips that then hang from a large ring. It looks pretty - or would if I put all of the same colors on one ring. Now the problems is - where do I hang them?
Then I thought I would put the rolled ones back on my wall unit that has 2 rods for ribbons. One does have my washi tape on it.  Or I could line them up on the shelves of this same unit.

Now, I do have quite a bit more ribbon, but since I don't know where to put all the spools, I'm in a quandary.
Fellow crafters - WHERE and HOW do you store ribbon???  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I know we talked a bit about it last Saturday, but working with all the different sizes is what confuses me... Thanks!

HAPPY CRAFTING!

I know I said this on my FB page, but I just have to repeat myself:

"Thank you all for coming over yesterday to celebrate National Stamping Month. I had a wonderful time. I'd like to thank Brianna, Milly and Dana for stopping by for the first time. It was truly great meeting you. Hopefully, we will be seeing you soon again. We do have a really good time at our regular crops, so I'll be sure to let you know when they are. Thanks also to my regular Customers who are always such a pleasure to have around. I love you, friends. If you missed the celebration, but would like to do the make-n-takes, let me know. Thank you all for making it such a success. You're GREAT!!"
So, what's next. CROP THIS FRIDAY!! Everyone is invited. I'm working on making more room to give each person a bigger space to work on. My problem is that, after trying to get things re-set up, I am so hot that I had to stop. Actually, I had to take some clothes off - LOL! Please give me fair warning if you decide to stop by.
Ok, back to the crop. This Friday, the 23rd from 11 am until 9 or 10, we are going to get busy and get some of our projects finished (like my Christmas cards) - are you as ready as I am.  Let's hope the A/C gets fixed before everyone comes over. Tomorrow is the big day for that - I hope and pray.
I really wish that I had some photos to share. I guess I will share one or two from one of our past crops.

Anne and Debbie, cropping - and Debbie's Grandson. Looks as if we are all working hard.

What do you think??

http://shellysheartfeltart.ctmh.com/SO excited for our celebration of National Stamping Month this Saturday, September 17th.  I hope to see all of my fellow crafters here for the party.
There will be food, beverages, a make-n-take or two, prizes, and lots of fun!
I'll post photos after the big event!
Thanks for visiting...

I just wanted to post a few photos of the cards we made in the Monthly Workshop. We all made a few of the basic cards and then just by turning the cut parts around a bit, and using other sentiments, we came up with new cards.
Thanks for looking! Have a great and blessed day.

Friday, September 9, 2016

Yesterday was such a great day. We started our new Monthly Card Kit club and made the "Party Time" cards with the "Workshops Your Way Party Time Cardmaking Kit". Not only did we make 10 cards as directed (mostly - LOL), but there is so much paper left over that we can make more cards and/or scrapbook pages. That's what I love about CTMH "Workshops Your Way" Kits. And the stamp set is so useful. I'm going to upload a few photos today - if I can learn how.
I'm new to blogging! Can you tell??
The club is going to be so much fun. I think everyone had a great time.
Now, I'm getting ready to celebrate National Stamping Month with a party on the 17th!

Thursday, September 8, 2016

Let's get started!

Hi, well, it is September - where did summer go? Of course, down here in FL we have summer from April until October usually. Our mornings are getting a bit cooler though.  Yeah. Makes my walks a bit more bearable.
September is going to be a busy month - our Monthly Card workshop starts today - the 8th!  Yeah. I'm looking forward to a fun time.
September is National Stamping Month! To celebrate it, we will have a fun-filled day on the 17th. Not just fun-filled, but prize-filled too.  PLEASE stop by anytime and do a few make-n-takes using our Create Kindness Kit - a great card kit including 3x3 cards & envelopes, a My Acrylix® mini stamp organizer, (8) exclusive M-size stamp sets and more! It really is a super value and you will love the stamp sentiments! It is only available in September. Watch Close To My Heart’s blog, Instagram account, and Facebook page throughout the month of September to see what we’ve created with this card kit as well as the acts of kindness it has inspired! If you have performed a random act of kindness, don't forget to post it on my Facebook page - shelly's CTMH. I'd love to hear about your acts of kindness.
Thanks for visiting. I'll post photos from today's workshop of our creations!

Tuesday, August 9, 2016

We have a crop coming up on Saturday, August 20th. It starts at 11 am. I hope to see as many of you as possible.
I've been moving my crafting supplies back to my craft room upstairs. I tried to set it up downstairs, but that didn't work out too well. My crops will still be downstairs, but now I will be like everyone else who has to drag their crafting supplies to the crop.  The most important thing is to put it away when the crop is over.
